Word Power

Posted by bli63 on May 31, 2009

Sadly our culture today will allow lies and half truths to be facts of life. We sometimes excuse our own exaggerations and sometimes misleading statements thinking that they do no real harm; but they do raise a believability issue with those who are watching and listening to us as we try to live a witness for Christ. Though we may try to draw a distinction between our words and our actions, both show the content of our hearts. How can we be sure we are on the right path with our hearts and words? We find the answer in Psalms 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength and my redeemer”

For by thy words thou shall be justified, and by thou words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:37

The Power Of Prayer

Posted by bli63 on May 29, 2009

As members Of Gods family we have the privilege and responsibility to pray for one another during sickness. Some recent research finds that patients who are prayed for fare much better than those not prayed for. James 5:15 And the prayer of faith will cure the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up. And if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him… Yet we know God does not heal every person we pray for, at least not here on earth. When we pray in faith, we believe God can do anything we ask. But the prayer of faith does not stop there; it also involves surrender. We must move past twisting Gods arm to trusting Him to do whatever will bring Him the most glory. At times God may give us the assurance He plans to heal as we desire.. When He does not give this assurance, His Spirit will intercede for us according to the will of God. [Romans 8:27]

Truth Or Error?

Posted by bli63 on May 25, 2009

Many people are searching for what is true and reliable, in the clamor of conflicting voices in today’s world, some explore age old philosophies, new age ideologies and world religions, and the occult. Others  adopt what they like from various sources and their own concepts of truth. However there is one reliable  source of truth with which to measure the world’s ideas. Truth is found in the Creator God of the universe who is the God of truth. [Ps.31:5]. The Bible is God’ revelation of Himself and His message to all humanity. “All scripture is inspired by God”[2 Timothy3:16]. God chose  human writers to to record that His truth would endure  to all generations.[PS.100:5]. We can trust the unchanging Word of God…Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. All shall perish , but Gods Word will endure. And that is the truth….

Just A Bad Day

Posted by bli63 on May 22, 2009

I think we all just have a bad day once in a while. I just went through a bad week. I stepped in a hole and sprained my ankle, tried to repair a faucet in the bathroom ,and broke it.  My son said I will cut the grass I said fine. Guess what the lawnmower would not crank. My wife called from work and had a flat. Ever have a day like that? Makes me a little reluctant to try to do anything else. I know also that what ever I do if I keep my faith that all will be well…Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

The Marathon

Posted by bli63 on May 19, 2009

Life sometimes reminds me of running a marathon. Athletes, businessmen, housewives and students overcome heat exhaustion and pain to complete the course. They have endurance and keep on keeping on. There are many winners, not just the ones who cross the tape first. Participants  have achieved the goal of training, discipline, and effort. The Christian life is similar to a marathon. Runners battle the frailties of their own bodies and difficulties of the course. Satan throws the obstacles of human weakness, the lures of temptation, grief, disappointment, and lifes painful experiences to sidetrack Christians of the course. Those that endure will receive a crown of life..James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation, because having been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

The Final Victory

Posted by bli63 on May 17, 2009

Ancient Chinese people often transported their deceased  nobles to the highest peaks along the Yangtze river. Known today as “hanging coffins,” these burial places were chosen with the belief that the higher the body, the greater chance of afterlife. Today a few of these coffins have been placed 9in museums; others remain high on the cliffs along the river. Only God knows the fate of these individuals. Sin is the cause of death and the source of fear about death. Thanks to God Jesus took the sting out of death. Believers need not be afraid. For those that have accepted Christ, the grave is not the final resting place..”For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”.. John 3:16.That people should die is a given, but life is not over at death. So the final victory is over death.

What Next?

Posted by bli63 on May 16, 2009

As I was running my Friday errands today, I have to shop for my mom who is disable., I also do some of our household shopping. Anyway I ran into some very interesting situations today. Seems like every time I stopped to look at an item someone would be waiting for me to move. Then I was almost ran over several times. But no one seemed to be in a big hurry so it all worked for the best. When we run into  life’s problems that sometimes seem to get the best of us maybe if we would slow down and think things out and let God guide us. We might see that all would work for the best…Exodus 18:19 Listen now to my voice; I will give you counsel, and God will be with you. You be for the people toward God, that you may bring the causes to God.

What Would You Do?

Posted by bli63 on May 14, 2009

I have often thought of what would happen? if suddenly we had a visitor show up at our door. We here a knock and open the door and someone says, I have come to visit with you. After we let the visitor in and talk for a minute trying to figure out who he is. We suddenly realize our guest is none other than Jesus Christ. WOW! What would He find? would we be ashamed or proud to have Jesus in our home? This is something we really need to think about…What would you do?..Revelations 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Obediance Requires A Choice

Posted by bli63 on May 12, 2009

Sometimes in to days world, Christians are denied the privilege of speaking the name of Jesus or of witnessing for Him. Some believers have been denied promotions or even lost their jobs because they stood on biblical principles. Others have had family relationships severed because they chose to follow Christ. Sometimes choosing God’s way means the consequences will be tough. However it is comforting to know that in every situation, it is to do what is right, we will be thankful in the long run that we obeyed God..Act 5:29 But Peter and the apostles answered and said, We must obey God rather than men.

What I Remember Most

Posted by bli63 on May 10, 2009

What I remember most about my mother.. She taught us to pray, and what good morales are. She would read the Bible to us and teach us about God and Jesus., and told us stories about people of the Bible and take us to church when she could. She was always there for us when we were sick and nurse us to health. She could always make things better. We never had very much in the way of riches, in fact we were pretty poor;  but mother always could seem to make sure we got by. My mother is 85 and not in good health she walks with a stoop and hurts a lot., but she says she is just thankful to God to be here this mothers day and so am I. If your mother is not with you this year I hope you take comfort in knowing you can be together for a great mothers day some day in heaven….Luke 18:20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor thy father and mother.
