Be Careful About Your Desires

A man owned a large farm. He had purchased more land than he could use, yet he coveted all the land that touched his farm. When he bought the available property, he bought the farm next to that boundary line. Someone said , He owns the whole county. This man is an example of a violator of God’s Tenth Commandment. He put the secular above the spiritual. He made no time for church or Christian involvements. Covetousness is an inner decay that kills contentment. What harm can a little covetousness do? It is a wrong attitude that leads to wrong doing, such as maybe breaking the other nine commandments. On the other hand, right attitudes lead to right actions…Exodus 20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his man-servant, nor his maid-servant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor’s.
