A Lost Nature?

Posted by bli63 on June 30, 2008

Jack Jones wrote: “Putting a hog in the living room will not change the hog’s nature, but it will damage the living room. A lost man’s nature will not be changed by placing his name on the church roll, but the church will suffer by his being a member. Every Christian should be a church member; in fact, there is no place for a true Christian outside the church. But the church membership has nothing whatever to do with the salvation of the soul. Billy Sunday was right when he said, “Joining the church does not any more make one a Christian than entering a garage will change one into an automobile.’”
-[ Robert G. Lee, Sermonic Library]… Romans 8:6 To set our minds on the flesh leads to death, but to set our minds on the Spirit leads to life and peace.

The Truth Worth Telling

Posted by bli63 on June 29, 2008

While methods and techniques vary widely for many undertakings, there is only one way to reach heaven to spend eternity with God. Jesus is that Way, and He is the Truth and the Life. All He asks is that we believe. He has taken care of everything else. How we do many things in this life just doesn’t matter when it comes down to whats really important related to eternity. Jesus is the One and Only Way. That’s the truth worth telling. Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.

Thankful Spirit

Posted by bli63 on June 27, 2008

 The magic of a thankful spirit is that it has the power to replace anger with love, resentment with happiness, fear with faith, worry with peace, the desire to dominate with the wish to play on a team, self preoccupation with concern for the needs of others, guilt with an open door to forgiveness, sexual impurity with honor and respect, jealousy with joy at  others success. All these things we can have when we have a thankful spirit. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone had a thankful spirit?…Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful…Colossians3:15…

Dry Spirit

Posted by bli63 on June 25, 2008

I just can’t for the life of me figure out why people can’t simply come to church, and enjoy the worship service. But instead they try to find something wrong. For instance the music leader is talking to much or the pastor is not preaching loud and hard enough. Oh I know what a lot of it is No Spirit, dry as a bone. Some may have been Christians for 50 yrs. They have completely lost the joy of being a child of God. They have attended church most every Sunday and set in the same pew seat until there is a worn place in it where they set. They are perfectly satisfied for the worship service to go like this. Hymn- Prayer- Hymn- Announcements- Hymn offering - Choir -  Sermon. In at 11:00 out at 12:00- Sound familiar? Then we wonder why our attendance is down in denominational churches. Could it be that we are set up too much like a business instead of house of worship? could it be that our services are just simply Spiritless and boring? Maybe we should take a closer look at our relation with God. Psalm 99:9 Exalt ye Jehovah our God, And worship at his holy hill; For Jehovah our God is holy.[ASV]

Make The Right Decision

Posted by bli63 on June 24, 2008

Choose That Which Glorifies God
Making a decision is often like solving a complex mathematical problem. Lots of factors must weigh into that decision. Will it be profitable? Will the results be short term or long term? What will it cost? What happens next? What will others think? Who else will be affected? Certainly important decisions can not be made hastily. Each element of the equation is important, but some are more important than others. Our primary motivating factor in decision making lies just below the dividing line. It affects everything above it. That factor is how will God be involved in the decision? How will God be glorified through the decision? Will His impact be be maximized by what is done? When we do the math we need to do it well. Everyday we will face some simple decisions. What will I eat or drink? But we may also face some bigger decisions/ Let us depend on God and make decisions that will bring glory to Him.1Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Agape

Posted by bli63 on June 23, 2008

Have you ever heard anyone say I will fogive them but I will never forget? What if God had that attitude toward us? What if he defined love in the same way? We would be in big trouble wouldn’t we?
7-beloved let us love one another. For love is of God: and everyone that loveth is born, and knoweth God. 8–He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8.. 1Corinthians 13, teaches us that love behaves itself and does not seek its own. Love is kind. In this passage of scripture the words for love are taken from the Greek word agape meaning as a love that prizes its object above other things, with an unwillingness to abandon the object. [Thayers Greek lexicon]..That describes how much God loves us–with a love that died for us when He didn’t deserve it. We can ignore God, disobey Him, and mock Him; yet He will love us. we can’t truly know God without experiencing His love, and we know God when we love others.

No Different.

Posted by bli63 on June 20, 2008

Ever wonder why so many people are staying away from church?  Could it be that it is no different in the churches than it is out?. Man made rules, politics, rules, regulations, everything has to be political correct. Pastors must have degrees in Theology, psychology, Business, and Teaching, to name a few. Have we forgotten that we need plain old preaching Gods Word? Maybe if we take out the country club atmosphere, and put the God atmosphere back, we might begin to be able to minister to the lost again and get people back in Gods Church. Love Gods church not buildings or denominations. Remember that Jesus died on the cross for you and me, and “Worship God” not people or buildings. Then we can have the kind of fellowship and love with others  that God wants us to have. Jesus died but He also lives for us.  Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Titus 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

All Are Welcome!

Posted by bli63 on June 18, 2008

We should never be so caught up in our church activities that we don’t take time to know our neighbors. Some may be non Christians, but we need to let them know that Jesus welcomes them. To stay in our Christian circles feels comfortable. Yet Jesus spent time building relationships so people could know Him. I wonder if we are building relationships with others in ways that will enable us to share Christ with them? Even hanging out with the wrong crowd as did Jesus, can be a good thing if we are drawing sinners to repentance….Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Lost Song

Posted by bli63 on June 17, 2008

I was talking to one of my brothers in Christ, who also sings and plays guitar, he is a great singer and player and he is a really good christian man. He told me the last time he went to sing that he lost his song. he said he didn’t feel like he was doing what God wanted him to do . He was to do 15 songs and he only did 5 and told the audience that that was all he had to sing. he said he couldn’t remember the words to the songs he has been doing for a long time.He was ready to give up and quit, I told him that was the devil trying to get to him and take the joy out of his heart …He said maybe you are right, maybe I was doing this for me instead of God. I told him pray about it and let God back in,.and He would surely put the joy back in his heart and his music. Sometimes we get so caught up in what we want that we don’t put God first . What happens? satan gets his chance, and jumps right at the opportunity to try and destroy us. But I praise god that He is always there for us when we mess things up willing to forgive, and love us just the same. all we have to do is ask. Psalm 113:1-2 Praise ye the LORD, Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. 2 Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for ever more.
